Recommended Products & Practices

We know that calling a plumber may not be your first choice, before you try to DIY check out these plumber tested tips and tricks:

Leaks and Clogs:

Clogged sinks can ruin your whole day and while it may be tempting to try the latest internet hack for clearing a clogged line, many of these can actually harm your pipes and make the situation worse. The following drain cleaner has been tried and tested by our own team for minor drainage issues and clogs:

Tried to DIY with no results? We recommend having a professional take a look. While the above product works to loosen hair and grease trapped within your pipes, the only way to truly resolve a stubborn clog is to have the debris removed; otherwise, it will likely reoccur.

Small leaks can seem inconsequential but can turn into a much larger problem very quickly. In addition to mold, damage to walls, fixtures, and flooring can all be consequences of ignoring leaks. In the event of a minor leak you can try the following temporary measures until the pipe can be replaced:

  • Epoxy putty

  • Repair tape

  • Patch and clamp

It's important to keep in mind that these solutions are only temporary fixes and are not long term solutions. A leaking pipe should be replaced and we recommend calling a professional.

Water Heaters

Whether you have traditional or tankless water heaters, it's important to know how to take care of them. Did you know that your water heater needs to be serviced annually in order to ensure optimal function? It's true! If left without proper maintenance, traditional water heaters will experience sediment build up at the bottom of the tank which reduces efficiency, lowers water pressure, and can even cause your water heater to rapidly break down. Tankless water heaters also need to be flushed once a year in order to remove mineral build up and maintain efficiency. If you live in an area with greater water hardness or you have not had your tankless water heater flushed recently, your water heater might need to be descaled to remove severe mineral build up.

Preventative maintenance can prolong the life of your water heater. Let us help you protect your investment, call us today to schedule your appointment.

Low Water Pressure

Low water pressure can have many causes. If you aren't sure of the cause, an easy and simple place to start is with cleaning you fixtures. Shower heads and faucet aerators (the screw on tip of your faucet) can be taken off and scrubbed with a vinegar soaked toothbrush as well as left to sit in vinegar overnight to remove mineral build up.

Don't see any gunk inside your fixtures or tried scrubbing with no improvement? Then we recommend giving us a call. You could have a leaking pipe stealing your water pressure and potentially causing damage to your home.

General Guidelines

Keeping you home in order is an essential part of your daily life and we know that disruptions can be frustrating and often costly. We recommend the following good plumbing habits to maintain your home and minimize issues:

  • Avoid dumping grease or oils down your drains.

  • Watch what is flushed down your toilet. Diapers, trash, facial tissues, napkins, etc. should not be flushed. Essentially if it isn't toilet paper, we recommend utilizing your trash can over your commode.

  • Drain strainers over your high traffic areas (showers, bathroom sinks, etc.) can reduce the amount of hair and debris that enter your pipes thus reducing the incident of clogs.

One of the most important things you can do for your home is an annual inspection where a licensed plumber checks out your faucets, toilets, clean outs, washing machine connections, and so much more. This way, you'll receive a full picture of any issues that you may currently have or any repairs you may need to consider in the future. Contact us today to book an appointment and protect your home!
